Better late than never, right?

I feel silly for setting goals this late in the month, but there's no time like the present. Right? Right.

My 24th birthday arrives in exactly fifteen days. I have fifteen chances to improve my life until another year ticks over on my life. I have another eighteen days until time rolls into May. That's a lot of chances. To get it right. To get it wrong. Not knowing is exciting, don't you agree?

"Don't decrease the goal, increase the effort."

Since starting this blog and my journey to becoming a legal executive, I have looked at a lot of motivational quotes. Not because I need motivating, because they inspire me to work harder. Aim higher. Be better. They set a fire in my belly that I haven't felt in a long time. It's a reassuring feeling that I'm on the right path and all this work will pay off.

How am I going to finish April? Let me tell you.

  1. Read two books. My 'currently reading' list is much larger than two, but I need to be slightly reasonable here.
  2. Workout four times a week. I'm not talking about a leisurely stroll. I mean sweating, can't breathe sort of 'working out'. I have the Nike training app and I'm planning on utilising it.
  3. Read and understand four New Zealand laws. I looked up past exams and they are riddled with subsections buried in statues. It put me in a bit of a spin, so I'm going to start knuckling down now.
  4. Blog three days a week. I've managed to do it this week, so there's no reason why I can't keep this momentum going.
  5. Limit screen time. I spend too much time on my devices. I'm well aware of this. My goal is to be off my phone and laptop by 10pm and not touch them again until 7am.
  6. Get up at 6am every day (except Sunday)
  7. Less coffee, more water. I'm addicted to coffee, but my body needs water. I'm aiming to have two cups of coffee and six glasses of water per day.
  8. Have coffee with someone. Ironic, given my previous goal, but I want to be more intentional with people. Really, really intentional. This means actively asking someone to have coffee instead of counting on my antenatal coffee group every week.
Some of these goals seem straight-forward and easy to accomplish, some of these will require time and dedication. I've seen over and over that accountability is the factor behind accomplishing your goals. I am a person who hates failure, but I also need that extra little push, which is why I'm posting my goals today.

Big or small, no goal is pointless. Keeping telling yourself that as you crush your goals for April. I know I will be.

What are some of your goals? Do you have any tips or tricks for staying motivated?

  1. This month one of my goals is to make at least 3 new business connections/relationships with others, for my small business. I’ve got a couple work events coming up, so I’m looking forward to the opportunity to make that happen!

  2. I wish I had the time to work out! I'm desperate to get fit and it also makes me feel so good but toddler and working full time = no energy!
